Abstract:
Systems using metadata in various schemas, e.g. CYCLADES which harvests OAI compliant electronic archives, provide data in different levels of granularity. The schema level, attribute value level, metadata level, and - optionally - the document level in such systems thus form a multi-level hypertext. Ideally, all of these levels can be searched and browsed. This paper presents an RDF model for such multi-level hypertext data in digital libraries. In contrast to other approaches, this model covers all levels in one representation, thus enabling searching and browsing of all levels in a uniform way, provided an appropriate RDF tool.
